Marine Sales Representative
Grow commercial marine accounts while supporting an established recreational market. National territory, premium technical products and a strong service team.
Turn technical credibility into commercial growth
Manaaki Marine is recruiting for an established Auckland marine engineering business with a strong position in the high-end recreational market. The next stage of growth is to build deeper relationships across commercial marine while continuing to support existing customers.
This is a field-based technical sales role covering premium marine engines, generators and vessel systems. You will develop new accounts, manage long-term relationships and coordinate with technical specialists so each proposal is commercially sound and practical to deliver.
The work you will take ownership of
· Develop new relationships with vessel operators, boatbuilders, shipyards, fleet owners and marine service partners.
· Maintain and grow established accounts in the high-end recreational marine market.
· Qualify customer requirements and coordinate technical input for product selection, quotations and proposals.
· Maintain a disciplined pipeline, activity plan, forecast and follow-up schedule.
· Represent the business at national boat shows and relevant commercial marine events.
· Complete planned North and South Island sales trips and occasional international travel once fully trained.
· Coordinate clean handovers to operations, parts and technical teams and remain engaged through delivery and after-sales support.
The capability we are looking for:
· Proven business-to-business technical sales, account-management or business-development experience.
· Evidence that you can originate opportunities, open accounts and convert complex or long-cycle sales.
· The curiosity and credibility to learn technical products and sell value without overstating capability.
· Disciplined CRM use, qualification, forecasting and follow-up.
· Professional presentation, negotiation and relationship-management skills.
· A full New Zealand driver licence, unrestricted work rights and willingness to travel.
Experience that will strengthen your application
Marine engines, generators, propulsion, stabilisers, boatbuilding, shipyards or commercial vessels would be ideal. Strong candidates from industrial engines, power generation, heavy equipment or other technical capital-equipment markets may also transfer well. A practical marine, engineering or service background will be highly regarded.
What you will receive:
· An indicative base salary of $90,000 to $110,000, subject to final confirmation.
· A performance incentive, company vehicle, phone, laptop and business travel expenses, subject to confirmation.
· A visible mandate to build the commercial market while managing valuable existing relationships.
· Product training and access to experienced technical, parts and service specialists.
· National customer exposure, industry events and selected international travel once trained.
Travel and working environment
The role is Auckland-based and will involve regular customer visits, two planned North Island sales trips and one South Island trip, with routes and timing agreed annually. National boat shows form part of the role. Occasional international travel may be required once product knowledge is established. A valid passport may therefore be required before international travel is booked.
